Today, I’m going to show you how to link a Harmony Hub to Google home. So you can send commands using your voice in a few simple steps. Let’s get started. Alright, so to link your harmony account, go into the home app, go into menu and tap on Explorer. Now we’re gonna search for Harmony. Then we’re gonna open it up and we’re gonna click on link. Then you’re gonna get a page from Logitech for you to sign in to your Harmony Hub. So go ahead and do that.
Ok, before we continue, something to have in mind is that you can only link one Hub to Google Home. So, if you have multiple Hubs in your home, you will need to use a different method like IFTTT or Samsung. Things to be able to send commands to those Hubs. I did make a tutorial video a few months back showing how to control Harmony using IFTTT via Google Home. So if you haven’t seen that video definitely check it out. You can find a link up here and also in the description below. Okay so after you log in, you’re gonna get a page for you to select which Harmony Hub you want to link to Google Home. If you only have one Hub like me, you’re gonna go straight to the activity page, where it’s gonna show you all the activities that you have set up on your Harmony Hub. So you’re able to select which ones you want to be able to control to be a your Google home. You’re also able to set up like a friendly name for each activity to make it a little bit easier when you’re sending commands through your go home, and going to the next page is just gonna chose their favorite channel. So if you set up favorite channels for your TV activity, you’re gonna see them listed over here. Alright, so let’s go ahead and go to the next page and click on link account. Okay so the account is now linked. So we’re now able to say, for example a Google ask Harmony to turn on my entertainment center or Hey Google ask Harmony to turn on the TV. Now because we always have to say ask Harmony after Hey Google, some commands can get a bit long. Now we shortcut we can make those commands a lot shorter here’s how we can do it. You can click on add new to add a new shortcut or you can go straight to the man as shortcuts page. So let’s go in there.
Already, so I already have six shortcuts here created for the Harmony. Now let me open one of them. When you create a shortcut on the top, you’re going to put the phrase that you’re gonna be telling Google to execute a command. On the bottom, you’re gonna put the actual command that Google home is going to execute now. Each shortcut you are able to put up to five different phrases that will execute that specific command. Once you’re done, just click on save now. Why don’t we go ahead and tests this shortcuts out to see how everything works.
All right, so right now, I have the TV off. So we’re gonna go ahead and try to turn it on using the Google Home and we’re gonna use the shortcuts Hey Google, turn on TV. Here’s harmony turning on TV. Alright so right now, the TV went on and also my cable box went on as well now. It was originally on chromecast. So now, it changed to regular TV. We’re gonna try to change the TV to chromecast which is pretty much HDMI 2 on the TV Hey Google change TV to chromecast. Let’s get harmony turning on chromecast. Alright so that pretty much worked very well. Now let’s go back to cable hey Google change to TV. Here’s harmony turning on TV. Alright so we’re gonna go ahead and change the channel to a specific channel number now. I haven’t set up a shortcut for that yet. So we’re gonna use the long command hey Google ask harmony to change to channel 47. Here’s harmony. Alright so the channel changed.
Now let’s go ahead and mute the TV hey Google mute TV. Alright here’s harmony muting volume. Alright so that’s working well as well. Now let’s go ahead and turn it off hey Google. Turn off TV sure getting harmony turning off TV. All right so that’s working well as well. Now let’s try to turn it back on hey Google turn on TV. Okay here’s harmony turning on TV. Alright so the TV is back on. Okay so all shortcuts are working properly. We were able to control activities with no problem and also send individual commands like changing channels control the volume and also to change the input or the TV.
